Moving Mountains

certificate

Moving mountains is a charity based in Ireland which works mostly in Kenya and Nepal, helping street children and their families with education, health and welfare, building and promoting environmentally and economically sustainable projects, and providing much-needed employment and income for a wide range of people caught in the poverty trap.

The charity was started by Gavin Bate in 2001 after many years working in the slums of Nairobi, and it is supported by his company Adventure Alternative and an ever-increasing number of supporters. They try very hard to ensure that our beneficiaries and projects receive a long-term support package which combines finance with careful and sustainable assistance from various angles, such as families, communities, schools, churches and clinics, with whom we have spent many years building strong and lasting relationships.

Moving Mountains is also a registered NGO in Kenya where we employ many Kenyan people to carry out the operations of the charity. We also support other charitable organisations and institutions financially which share our objectives, such as SETU in Nepal (helping reunite women prisoners with their children and providing them with skills), and a hospital in Bilma, Niger.

St Vincent De Paul

svp logo

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a direct service non-profit organisation whose work primarily involves person-to-person contact with people who have a variety of needs. In addition to direct assistance, we try to promote self-sufficiency, enabling people to help themselves. Any assistance offered by the Society is given in a non-judgemental spirit of compassion, based on the need of the individual or family.

St. Vincent de Paul act as a short-term safety net for those who fall outside the care of the Welfare State or need emergency financial support, we try to embrace those who are marginalised by helping them to rekindle their self-respect and sense of worth. Our Mission is also to rectify the causes of poverty which perpetuate the problems faced by those we work with.
