~ PTPT PERSONAL TRAINING Logo
(Paul Talty Personal Training)

Paul Tatly is a fully qualified personal trainer, based in Belfast. As a recent graduate Paul needed an identity to enter the personal training market.

After some research I knew that the letters PTPT needed to be in a strong typeface. When I created this design, I decided to use the top of the letters as a platform for an illustration which would represent Paul's training. We had several illustrations and decided that a runner would best represent bot male and female clients.

~ GAA GOALKEEPING COACHING LOGO

GAA Goalkeeping Coach was set up by Liam Swift in 2010 to provide quality Goalkeeping tuition and to specialise in excellence in goalkeeping. Needing a logo to promote his service: online, on documents and on vehicles, Laim asked me to design something that would suit his needs.

I decided to design a crest as this is the most recognised symbol of any sports team. I turned the crest into a goalpost and a goalkeeper infront to symbolise the service that Liam privides.

~ Learn to Dance - Posters

DS Wing, a professional partnership of World Championship Dancers, needed a poster that could be used to advertise 'Dance Lessions' for a local community. As the dancing is open to all ages, I was hesitant to use a picture, as showing a picture of certain age group, could have stopped another age group from attending. This is why I decided to use a silhouette - which could represent any age.

I have used bright, attracting colours with the use of a spotlight effect to give the illusion of spotlights on a dancefloor.

~ Derrynoose Community Festival

Derrynoose Community Centre Committee asked me to design posters and flyers to advertise a local festival.

The challenge I faced with this design was to include all aspects of the weekend, without giving most focus onto one single event, and to show the attraction and unique'ness of each day, to make people want to attend.

~ Connect Telecom

Connect Telecom, based in Belfast, offers solutions across mobiles, systems, data services and landlines. I was asked to create a flyer to advertise their latest offer which stops roaming charges accross Ireland, north and south of the border.

I was provided with all information on the flyer, and asked for the images to focus on Ireland - to show it as a whole, with no network problems accross the island. I added 'network waves' to represent whole island communication and added a sunbeam background in the background, to focus the eye onto this image of Ireland.

~ Wedding Invitations and Booklets

I recently designed a wedding booklet and invitations for a bride and groom for their big day.

Asking for the design to be simple and elegant, I designed several concepts and worked each step with them before developing this final desgin. I worked with the printers on each step and each sample, picking the texture of the paper, choosing the ink for the printing and having final say on the end design.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs McGrath on their big day.

~ Margaret McEwan - Physic Readings

Margaret McEwan, Psychic, contacted me to design a poster to advertise a day she was hosting in Newry, County Down. Working with her angels and spirit guides, Margaret receives clear messages and guidance for her clients.

Using an Orb for inspiration, I placed a picture of Margaret in the middle of the poster, with beams of purple light around her. Purple is a very strong colour that Margaret uses through out her print work.

~ Whyteline Media - Logo Design

Whyteline Media is a name I've decided to use for future freelance work. I felt that I needed a name to publish my work with, other than simply stating, 'Stephen Whyte'

The name White-line could strongly be used in a design form, (representing a white line) but using my own surname 'WhYte' instead of the colour whIte, Whyteline Design was born. I wanted to use two different fonts to show the use of two different words, but I linked the two together carefully, giving a nice design.

~ The Big Fat Derryvale Wedding Poster

Cancer Research NI held a fundraising event on 2nd April 2011, titled 'The Big Fat Derryvale Wedding' in the Derryvale Inn, Derrynoose, County Armagh. I designed this poster to help them advertise the event, highlighting the key features of the night.

I used a font that could be used on wedding invitations to show the elegance of a normal wedding ceremony, and used a Western font for the pub name ontop, to show its not a typical elegant formal event - but a party to help raise money for charity.

~ PC Repairs Flyer

PC Repairs, a small company based in Castleblayney, County Monaghan, needed flyers and advertisment materials to advertise their services. The main highlight was to show that they now sell re-furbished laptops as well as displaying clearly what they services they can offer their customers. I included a google map to show the exact location of the companys office, clearly displayed their telephone numbers and email address to make it easy for people to contact them.

~ Mother Knows Best Poster

Derrynoose Drama Group, a small drama production group, were asked to perform Jimmy Keary's play 'Mother Knows Best' in The Market Place Theatre in Armagh City. To promote the play and attract an audience, I was asked to create a poster that could sum up the play and include each character. Using professional photographs of the actors, I hoped to help the audience relate to the characters before the production was live on-stage.

~ Visa Not Required Logo

Visa Not Required was my major project in my final year studying Interactive Multimedia and Design. The website is a place to find out about various cities around Europe and North America, so I created a logo that would fit in your passport! I also created an illustration of a passport, with the nationality as a 'Global Citizen of the World.'

~ Space For Yourself Logo

Space for Yourself was a university assignment for second semester of my final year. Given a client, Clare Byrne a counseler from Belfast, I was asked to create a brand. The thought behind this brand was to stand out from the crowd and be happy within yourself. In my final year, I studied brands that change and people still relate to, and tested that theory with this project.

~ Two Minds Logo

Two Minds was another university project assigned to me. The idea behind the project was for architects and artists to be partnered together and each group given a simple basic project. (i.e. roundabout) Using eachothers skills, they were to create an artistic piece that functionally worked. My task was to create a brand. Each triangle represents an artist and an architect, the dark(er) green straight angled triange - the architect, and the lighter coloured, curvier lined triangle the artist.
